The Power of Gemini Season - Two Ways to Channel Your Emotional Energy This Season
How Did Taurus Season Serve You?
Now that Taurus season has come to a close, do you feel a bit more grounded? Did you spend time in nature, slowing down and listening to your inner compass? Last season with Taurus energy we focused on reflecting, reconnecting, and regrouping. This Gemini season is about feeling all the feels… both sides of them.
The Gemini and Their Twins
If you’re anything like me, I’ve always thought of Geminis as the “twins”, those with two very distinct sides. Previously I viewed this through the lens of personality types, regularly referencing a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde scenario. I’d meet a Gemini and always be peaking behind the curtain of their facade… “When’s the other side going to reveal itself?” It was like a mystery, a game I’d play with each new Gemini I’d meet. Once I saw what I considered “their other personality” I’d think “Aha!”, they’re such a Gemini (immediately congratulating myself on my accomplished sleuthing). But here’s the thing, we all have two (or three or four) sides. It’s not necessarily different personalities, it’s different moods. And since Gemini is often referenced as the sign of communication, these moods are more obvious because they talk about it. They let everyone know what’s going on with them, it’s part of how they process. Maybe it’s not always well articulated, but learning this made my own communication with Geminis immensely more productive. There’s lots to learn from Gemini, so through the lens of the “twins” let’s dive into the variety of ways we can learn through sets of two:
The Art of Reframing: There Are Always Two Ways to Look at an Issue
Our Mindset sets the tone for how we experience life. We all can shift our mindset, but it does take conscious effort. Our mindset is often programmed from childhood and our response to challenges has been on a repetitive loop for many years. Take a moment and dive into why you believe you react a certain way when something causes you angst. Does that previously programmed mindset still serve you? Breaking a habitual reaction isn’t easy, but just like breaking any habit, you can change the outcome by consistently choosing a different action, over and over again.
Next time you go to react in the same, old, tired way, stop and intentionally choose a different response. Reframe the problem, and look for a new reason for this negative outcome.
Could this issue be the Universe redirecting you?
Could there be a lesson you’re meant to learn that will serve you in the long run?
Is there a door about to open thanks to this one shutting?
We often can’t control what is happening around us, but we can change how we react or perceive that reality. By harnessing the two sides of an issue, and choosing the issue that serves us, we’ll protect our energy and move more effortlessly through life.
Rational vs Emotional: The Head vs the Heart
Geminis love to rationalize, it’s one of their gifts. They can talk themselves into or out of anything. This gift can rationalize breaking the rules through the beloved loophole or explain away a hypocritical action. For example: they will wholeheartedly believe we should be kind to one another, however, if someone vexes them, they can rationalize why it’s ok for them to be harsh back. Usually out of “principle”. Understanding the why helps one understand what’s going on inside. Geminis love to think, and often overthink, which is simply a tactic to avoid feeling. By overemphasizing the logical reason, they can ignore their intuition. They may know it’s wrong in their heart, but their very intelligent minds can effectively explain to themselves why it’s in fact right. Our minds tend to talk much louder than our hearts. One must quiet the mind to hear the heart, this is where the opportunity for Geminis lies.
Before getting too frustrated with Geminis, let’s dive a bit deeper. Why do they need to rationalize so often? Because they have big feelings! Those intense emotions can be wonderful, but they can also be draining, all-consuming, and sometimes frightening. Often the best way to deal with things that overwhelm us is to avoid them all together. Geminis have heavy, intense vibrations. Those feelings (positive or negative) rarely are expressed casually. They usually explode out of Gemini. This sort of outburst most likely was not accepted when they were children, so they were taught to try to mute them. Instead, they should healthily embrace and celebrate those big feelings, and learn to channel that big energy healthily.
Bringing back the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reference, I now view the “twins” of Gemini in a different way. Rather than the two sides being two separate personalities, I see that the two extremes are:
A Gemini overwhelmed with emotions
A Gemini avoiding those emotions through rationalization
The goal is to find the balance between the two. No one thrives when controlled only by emotions, conversely, losing touch with your feelings and disconnecting from your intuition is just as dangerous.
How to Regain Your Balance Through Lessons From Gemini
Just like a seesaw, there is always an equilibrium within reach. This should not be a contest between head vs heart seeing who will win, but an exercise in harnessing the power they both bring to your state of being. Honoring both have a rightful place in your decision-making process, is the first step to allowing them to work in harmony. The next time you have an emotionally driven negative reaction, reflect through these steps:
Root Cause: Ask yourself where this is coming from. What is underlying the frustration? Rather than just feeling “mad”, are you hurt? Underappreciated? Rejected? Be honest with yourself about how you’re feeling.
Neutralize the Emotion: Take a deep breath and remove the emotion. You’ve already acknowledged it, so you aren’t ignoring it, but now release its hold on the situation so you can view it through a clear lens. Was there a reason this was harder to handle than normal? Is anything else going on in your life right now that would put you more on edge? Stress at work? Tired from a bad night’s sleep? Feelings of insecurity in a new situation? Knowing this, can you see the situation more clearly now and give yourself some grace?
Identify the Signs: When you’re emotionally charged how does your body react? Tight stomach? Heavy Breathing? Fast heartbeat? Identify your signs so you can keep an eye out for them the next time before they overtake you.
Plan Ahead: When those signs arise in the future what will you do differently? You should always honor the big emotions that arise, but ensuring you act on them in a way that aligns with your core values will make for a more harmonious life. It’s never fun looking back and regretting a response. Getting ahead of this will bring more peace to your life.
Be Patient with the Process: Change is hard and doesn’t happen overnight. Now that you have a plan, this doesn’t mean it will work perfectly each time going forward. But you’re one step closer. Next time you react too intensely, re-visit this list. Equally as important, next time you follow your new plan and adjust the outcome, congratulate yourself! This is not easy work.
Learnings From Gemini Season
Everyone is influenced by both our heads and our hearts. We all are searching for our state of equilibrium. Take a moment to reflect on which side your internal seesaw leans more towards. Do you live in your head and overthink, disconnected from your intuition? Or are you emotionally driven, potentially too controlled by your emotions? If you’ve already found balance, congratulations! But if you realize you have an opportunity to even out, lean into your uncomfortable side this season:
Regularly overthink? This month act faster, trusting your intuition, and diving in!
Driven primarily by your emotions? Practice reviewing the options a bit before making a decision. Take a pause, rather than quick action.
Uncomfortable? Great! That’s the sign of growth. Remember, it’s part of life to tip back and forth on that see-saw. That’s OK! The goal is to have the awareness and tools to stabilize ourselves. Your own equilibrium is within your grasp! After the gut-inspired season of Aries and the regrounding energy of Taurus, combine those energies into your equilibrium with Gemini. Before you know it, the world will seem just a bit more magical.
