Three Ways to Ground Yourself This Taurus Season After the Chaos of Aries

Exhausted After Aries Season?

Feeling a little scattered after the energy of Aries season? Perhaps your process looked similar to this:

-          An explosion of ideas, excitement, and inspiration… Where did all these amazing ideas come from?!

-          After starting one project, you were easily distracted by the next shiny idea. How to choose?!

-          Finally certain that one idea was the best, you rush to begin… but without any plan and therefore, quickly lose steam. Where did all that initial excitement go?!

You might now be feeling a bit overwhelmed or downright drained from the rush. It’s ok, that’s all part of the cycle. Fresh, new ideas are exciting! Welcome them into your life and enjoy the spark of life breathed into your soul. But holy cow, constantly living in that state would be all-consuming.

For me, the transition between these seasons always feels abrupt. I was on a roll with new ideas! Slowing back down feels like slamming on the brakes and I don’t want to lose the momentum! I fear going backwards or allowing the train to fall off the tracks. Sound familiar? But, it’s quite the opposite.

Take a Moment to Pause

Let’s join in a collective sigh of relief as we move into this grounding season. While Aries’ fire sign is meant to spark you into action, Taurus’ earth element brings us back to a grounded state. Once you start harnessing the power of Taurus season, you’ll recognize staying in a state of Aries is a one-way ticket to burnout. That train that you thought was on the tracks going somewhere amazing was actually about to derail on the upcoming turn due to speed. You must slow down to go fast.

Aries wanted us to: Do, Act, Go! Taurus wants us to: Reflect, Reconnect, Regroup. Let’s look at each of these through the lens of Taurus season. ensuring the best of your big ideas arrive safely at their destination.

  1. Reflect, but Don’t Overthink!

If you had a variety of ideas during Aries season, now is the time to sort through that list and determine which idea is worth pursuing. As you reflect on each new idea, ask yourself:

-          Does this align with my priorities?

-          Does this move me in my desired direction?

-          Does this excite me?

As you reflect, you may start to drill down and analyze, but resist the urge. This season is not the time to overthink and write pro/con lists. No, it’s a time to turn inward towards your inner compass. You have all your own answers. What is your soul saying? When you read through your list, which ones align with your goals? Think back to those New Year’s Resolutions or your Word of the Year, does this idea align?

Next, does it get you closer to where you want to go? It doesn’t need to be a gigantic leap, small steps add up. As long as that small step is going towards your desired destination, then it checks out.

Lastly, does it give you butterflies? That flutter in your stomach might make you question if it’s “right”, but don’t mistake that flutter as a warning sign. There’s a chance that flutter is fear-based. Lean into that reaction and ask more questions. Assuming your big idea isn’t something like attempting to run through a brick wall, I doubt it’s genuinely dangerous. Instead, it’s most likely uncomfortable. Pushing past your comfort zone is where transformation begins. That flutter is your compass jolting back to attention, nudging you to take notice.

2. Reconnect, to Yourself and to Mother Earth

Do not rush this process, busy feelings belong in Aries, not here in Taurus. Channel the powers of grounding Taurus season and find your way to connect to Mother Earth:

-          Walk barefoot on the grass

-          Take a leisurely hike through the forest

-          Get your hands in the dirt gardening

-          Pick a bouquet of flowers

Whichever route you choose, be sure to move slowly. Think of this as a meditative moment. Take notice of each action, and be intentional. Tune into your surroundings: listen to the birds chirping, the sound of the wind through the trees, and the damp earth between your fingers and toes. These love notes from Mother Earth surround you with comfort and security. Reminding you that you can rely on yourself just as you can rely on her.  To calm the mind, you must calm the body and your nervous system. The more stillness and presence you find, the simpler it all becomes. This is when the answer becomes clear. You can’t ask your inner compass to show you the way if the hand is spinning out of control. Clear that interference and get connected to yourself again. As you align with your true self, your vibration turns constant and stable, drawing in all you need to continue along your path.

3. Regroup, to Move Forward

Is it starting to click? Do you feel clear on which of your many ideas is the right one to invest your time and energy? You can’t do it all at once. In order to move forward in any true, significant way, you must focus on one clear next step. We all only have so much time in the day. Working a little on a variety of projects will only pull attention and keep you spinning. You can’t move forward if you continue jumping around. Investing small amounts of time each day on the same project will move you noticeably closer to your desired end-point.  Now you can begin putting the framework of a plan together. It doesn’t need to be in-depth, have faith in your inner compass to guide the way. But don’t leave it all up to your gut either, write down a few starting points:

-          What is one thing you can do for 15 minutes each day moving you towards your goal?

-          What are 3 major milestones you’d like to hit and by what dates?

-          How are you going to hold yourself accountable?

-          How are you going to celebrate your small wins?

Did Taurus Season Serve You?

Let’s wrap it all up. If you worked through these three steps this season, my hope is you’ve found some clarity. You sorted through the explosion of ideas from the prior season, re-connected to your priorities, and determined the best next step forward to move you toward your ultimate destination. Take a deep breath and celebrate this milestone right here, right now. You have the start of a real plan! One that may feel small, but can take you far, as long as you stay true to yourself through the process. If you start having doubts, turn back to nature… no one believes in you like your Mother (Earth).  Shake off that feeling of overwhelm and start chipping away at your strategy. You got this. This is hard stuff and you’re doing great!
